Last weekend Lamborghini Vancouver and Lamborghini Calgary hosted the first ever Western Canada GIRO. The Giro (meaning tour in Italian) offers top clients from Lamborghini a curated luxury experience with spirited driving along some of the most scenic routes across Canada coupled with the finest dining and relaxation. Lamborghini owners came from all across Canada including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatoon to join in on what turned out to be an epic weekend! Luxury, Comradery, Friendship, Lifestyle & Laughter. Calgary to Vancouver; it was the ultimate Lamborghini experience.
In addition to experiencing the diversity and culture of super, natural British Columbia, the 2015 Giro Lamborghini supported a worthy cause along the way. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the “Dreams Take Flight” charity, a national volunteer charitable organization dedicated to providing the trip of a lifetime to medically, mentally, physically, socially or emotionally challenged children. “Dreams Take Flight” has 8 Chapters across Canada who takes children to either Disney World or Disneyland. A worthy cause, “Dreams Take Flight” is Lamborghini Calgary’s charity of choice.
Vancouver owner’s had their Lamborghini vehicles shipped to the Calgary where our journey began. Lamborghini owners from Alberta met in the early hours of Friday morning at the brand new Calgary dealership on Heritage Drive. After some light breakfast and a driver’s meeting, owners of twenty-one Lamborghini’s, a mix of mostly 610HP V10 Huracán’s and the 700HP V12 Aventador’s, set off on the A1 through Banff , Glacier National Park, and the Rogers Pass to make the first lunch time stop at Revelstoke Golf Club. After rehydrating the body and Lamborghinis the group headed Southwest onto the Okanagan Highway to the breathtaking Predator Ridge Hotel in Vernon. Rich in history and tradition, Predator Ridge is set amongst one of the most scenic backdrops in North America. Heavy rain fell on the rest of the afternoon but it did not tarnish the fun of driving convoy style through the Rockies towards our final stop of the day. Guests enjoyed a wonderfully presented dinner in the Clubhouse restaurant at Predator Ridge while all of the Lamborghinis got a spruce clean by local detailers Auto Quest.
Day 2 began with a leisurely breakfast and checkout before the colorful collection of Aventadors, Huracans, Murcielagos and Gallardos blazed through the picturesque Monte Lake district towards Kamloops. The Cruise continued on the Trans-Canada Highway following along the Thompson River as it cuts through the desert-like terrain to Cache Creek. The group stopped for lunch at a one of the most historic ranches in the interior for a BBQ feast. Steeped in BC history, Hat Creek Ranch takes you back into the old days with a stage coach doing laps of the compound, period costumes, authentic style buildings and good old fashion hospitality. Setting off in early afternoon onto the legendary Duffy Lake Road – this 100-km stretch between Lillooet and Pemberton isn’t so much about easy driving as it is about stunning scenery. At times incredibly challenging, with tight switchbacks and several one-lane bridges, the Duffy Lake Road is a series of hairpin curves and plummeting cliffs, with a breath-taking lake in the middle. Late afternoon saw the bulls arriving in style at the remarkable Four Seasons Hotel, Whistler Resort. Giro guests dined in our own private cabana style tent with the most incredible feast and deserts along with a slideshow of the previous day drive. The Lamborghini team auctioned an Accademia drive experience on the night that was won by the highest bidder on the night. All proceeds from the evening along with kind donations from our clients were matched by Lamborghini to generate a whopping $17,000 in funds for ‘Dreams Take Flight’, our charity of choice for this event. The final leg of the journey saw the convoy of bulls heading south on the BC-99 ‘Sea to Sky’ highway. Built on a steep cliff overlooking Howe Sound, this breathtaking highway takes us on through West Vancouver and over the mighty Lions Gate Bridge, leading us to Downtown Vancouver. Giro Guests were welcomed back to the Lamborghini Vancouver showroom to have a final goodbye and wave off new friends on their journey home. We are so happy with the outcome of the GIRO event; all of our guests had an incredible experience and we made a substantial amount of money to support our charity to change the lives of young children across Canada.
Until next time…… Fino a quando ci incontriamo di nuovo!
